The 2021 edition of the Para-Cycling Road World Championship will be held in Portugal, bringing hundreds of participants to the Circuito Estoril, in Cascais, between 9 and 13 June.

It will be a special edition of this competition, since there is “hunger for races” on the part of the international para-cycling community, deprived of the World Championship and most of the international calendar in 2020, due to the pandemic.

The scheduling of the Worlds for June, in line with the preparation for the Paralympic Games, which will take place in Tokyo, Japan, between August 24 and September 1, is another reason for interest, as the best riders will want to test their physical condition in Portugal, enhancing the para-cycling show.

On the 10th and 11th of June, time trials will take place, while on the following two days the road events will take place. In both cases, the riders will cover an 8.3 km course, the number of laps depending on the different classes of the participants. The program closes, on the 13th, with team relay races, whose circuit has a perimeter of 1900 meters.
